In order to continue to administer this listserv we moved from a free listserv to a subscription fee based listserv at the rate of $50.00 annually. This fee originated in January 2020 at $30.00 annually. This fee increased on March 1, 2024 to $50.00 annually to fully maintain the functionality of the listserv.

Membership is granted to the following Mental Health Professionals:

  • Mental Health Professionals Licensed in Oregon (Psychologists, LMFT, LPC, LCSW, Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Art Therapists)

Annual $50 Subscription:

  • Subscription fee contributes towards management and maintenance of the messaging listserv.

The following are people who will not be granted membership:

  • Interns who are still in school (not graduated yet).
  • People who have a Masters Degree, Doctoral degree etc who are practicing mental health but are not licensed or are not in the process of being licensed.
  • Life Coaches, Executive Coaches, Financial Coaches, Spiritual Coaches that are not licensed or in the process of getting licensed as mental health professionals.
  • Lawyers, Medical Professionals, Billing Specialists, who are not mental health professionals.

Per existing anti-trust laws, the following topics cannot be discussed on the listserv:

  • Your fees/rates with other providers.
  • Your rates negotiated with insurance companies or other providers.
  • Anything regarding rates with other providers including comparing rates or percentages increased or dropped from one panel or another.
  • Group together or collude with someone else to the fact that you or others should leave panels based on rates and/or conspire to fix prices or boycott insurance companies collectively.

When sharing information on the listserv, please keep the following in mind:

  • All communication should use professional language. Any communication using inappropriate language or swearing will be flagged by the administrators.
  • You may ask for recommendations for attorneys, physicians, billing specialists, software from other practitioners – All answers to these questions should be back-channel to that individual, meaning direct and not to the group.
  • If you would like to follow a particular conversation – Please email the person direcly who originally asked and communicate that you would like that information.
  • Please be mindful of how you repy and do not reply all.
Client referrals are frequently shared on the listserv. It is our responsibility to keep the information to a minimum to protect clients. Referrals should be treated in the following manor:
  • Referrals should be limited to minimum details about the need and should never include any protected health information.
  • Do not copy and paste what a client states, or forward their email to the listserv, even with client permission.
  • Keep the subject line succinct so other members can decide quickly if they are a potential fit. For example: ISO Male Therapist for Teen, West Side, BCBS
  • Reply only to the person sending the referral
  • Referrals must be responded to that are a match. This includes insurance, specialists and other noted criteria. Referrals must also be for specific clinician(s), rather than multiple clinicians from a practice or group.
  • The listserv is intended for individuals in practice. Those in the position of practice managers or practice owners are encouraged to have employees join the group, and/or to use the listserv for individual clinical needs. Blanket listserv referrals that are not a direct referral match are not to be used to build a practice, or to market a business. This doesn’t follow our advertising policy and is considered business building and monetization.
  • Referrals are for typically for members. Sharing non member clinicians may impact equal opportunity for members. It’s best to share non member clinicians when there may not be enough referrals for a request, or a specialization is needed.

We have a NO ADVERTISING policy except for the following:

  • New members introducing themselves and their practice
  • Office rentals or sublets
  • Therapeutic groups geared toward clients
  • Legislation pertaining to stakeholders in the field
  • Training opportunities for clinicians who have approved continuing education status
  • Peer led groups for consultation, supervision or support (this could be continuing
education, process for your personal growth as a therapist, supervisor consultation
    group, etc)
  • Job openings for clinicians

Advertising is NOT allowed for any other reasons, including the following:

  • Business building or monetizing of any kind
  • Any type of business unrelated to mental health
  • Books, book signings, website or logo design and creation
  • Blogs, vlogs, podcasts
  • Sales and solicitation of any kind.
  • Courses, seminars or retreats that do not qualify for clinician continuing education
  • Posts about client openings in your practice

The advertising policy is meant to keep posts within the scope of psychotherapy, and to prevent excess email. All members have the ability to introduce themselves and their practice.  Advertising client openings beyond your introduction is not allowed, thank you.

Note that advertising guidelines may change over time provided not all forms can be captured here.

Please contact the listserv owner at owner@oregoncounselorsandtherapists.com with any questions related to advertising on the listserv.
